No computer tracking of personally identifying information

You are free to access the Cosine Consultants’ web site and utilize many of our services without having to provide any personal information at all. The only way we can learn your identity when you access any part of identifying characteristics. Unless you choose to provide this personal information to us, our computer is not set up to collect it. Our Web server can only recognize the IP address of each visitor, which is the unique number assigned to each computer that connects to the Internet. The IP address does not identify a visitor’s e-mail address; instead, it identifies the machine requesting our Web site. Depending on the nature of the connection, this can be the visitor's permanently assigned number, a temporary number, or the number assigned to an organization's intermediary server (proxy server) that processes all requests for external web services. At times, these numbers can identify the visitor’s Internet Service Provider or the visitor's domain name, which can be their organization or their Internet Service Provider.

This non-personal information is used only by our technical support staff for such internal purposes as load and routing analysis.

In addition, our Web site tracks information about the visits to our Web site. For example, we compile statistics that show the monthly number of visitors to our site, the monthly requests we receive for particular files on our Web site, and what countries those requests come from. These aggregated statistics are used internally to provide better service to our visitors and may also be provided to advertisers and prospective advertisers on the www.cosine.com.cy site and others, but again, the statistics contain no personal information and cannot be used to gather such information.

In addition, when a visitor uses a database function from our Web site, we do set a temporary cookie that lasts only until the visitor leaves our site. A cookie is a small data file that a Web site transfers to a visitor’s hard drive when a visitor visits the Web site. This cookie file contains a randomly generated unique ID that enables our server to track and present the visitor with a customized response tailored to the choices the visitor makes in our database. This customized response is a service we provide without requesting any personal information, and the cookie expires automatically when the visitor leaves our site.

Finally, our internal technical support staff monitor which other Web sites provide links to any part of our Web site.  Our Web server provides the technical support staff with this information by identifying the URL of the Web site visited immediately prior to a visit to our site if that site provided a link to our site. If a visitor accesses our Web site via a bookmark or directly and not through a link from another Web site, no information about prior Web sites visited is available.

Gathering of personal information:

If visitors want to use certain services on our Web site, we ask them to register by providing such personal information as their name, title, company, postal and e-mail addresses, and telephone number. For example, we request this personal information when a visitor:

• subscribes to an on-line publication
   

• registers on-line to participate in an event
   

• participates in an on-line survey
   

• Registers to be added to mailing lists to receive additional information
   

• engages in other e-commerce transactions.

Please be aware that if you participate in a public on-line forum on our Web site and you choose to disclose such personal information as your name, company, and e-mail address during the on-line forum, it becomes public information and is readily accessible by anyone visiting our Web site.

Disclosure of information to outside parties:

On a limited basis, personal information that you provide may be made available to outside parties to further the purpose for which you provide the information, such as receiving information related to industry publications, products, services or events. We will not release e-mail addresses to outside parties.

We are committed to the security of your financial information. We use credit card numbers only for processing payments of on-line orders of products and services.
